mandorlo bioThe main crops of the Mennuli & Alivi organic farm testify to the strong link with the Syracusan area and with the Sicilian agricultural tradition. The cultivated almonds belong to the Pizzuta and Fascionello variety, both of which are Slow Food Presidia “Mandorla di Noto”. The Pizzuta almond owes its name to the seed, whose ellipsoid shape ends with a pointed end (u’pizzu), has a characteristic red skin and an unmistakable taste.

The Fascionello almond is characterized by a medium-sized seed with an elliptical shape and a brown color and by a persistent flavor; these peculiarities make the Fascionello almond the key ingredient of excellent confectionery specialties. The varieties of olives, present in the company's land, range from the Moorish to the Nocellara Etna to the Coratina.

These native cultivars release all the antioxidant and nutritional properties once transformed into ExtraBio extra virgin olive oil, unfiltered and cold extracted; a bright blend to the eye, fragrant to the nose and full and slightly spicy to the taste.

The secondary crops, of course not least, include some varieties of fruit trees that are very much appreciated: figs, pomegranates, carob trees, lemons and oranges.

At the end of the agricultural work, these shrubs give thanks by making a gift of sensational fruits to eat or freshly harvested without affecting the skin or after having been transformed into jams and marmalades: natural delights for the most important meals of the day!

Furthermore, deeply believing in the need to feed plant biodiversity, in spring pollination is guaranteed by the incessant activity of our hardworking bees, kind in accompanying us during the daily activities and very generous in giving us excellent organic honey.
